Is Gloucester getting its fair share?

PoliceRecently, the Gloucester Citizen revealed that funding per child in some rural areas of Gloucestershire like the Cotswolds can be as high as £8,700 per child. Whilst it can cost more to run a rural school, some believe it’s wrong for money to be spent in this way in schools with just a dozen pupils. The County Council allocates about £3,000 per child in Gloucester City.

These differences in allocations are repeated in funding patterns for road improvements and police numbers where, although 32% of the county’s crime is in Gloucester - the county council allocates only 19% of its additional resources to the City. Parmjit feels that this is an unfair balance of resources, favouring places like the Cotswolds over urban areas. Do you agree with him?
